Tony’s of Lexington serves extra-large Chesapeake Bay Oysters. These briny oysters are a natural fit with lemon and our sharp horseradish sauce or you may select our house-made cocktail sauce. Our featured oysters are hand selected on a daily basis; we proudly serve only the best available.
For the enthusiast:
Oysters are considered the most nutritious when eaten raw. They are packed with vitamins and minerals, including zinc, iron, calcium, selenium, vitamin A and vitamin B12. Oysters also contain dopamine, a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers, leading to the belief that oysters are an aphrodisiac. Myth or not, we think you will fall in love with our oysters.
Did you know?
For hundreds of years, oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay were so enormous that during low tide they were visible above the surface. During the late 19th century, oyster harvesting became so cut-throat that oystermen were killed over prime harvesting areas and oyster pirates plundered at will. This led to the foundation of the State Oyster Police to keep the peace. We promise the oysters we use at Tony’s are pirate-free. Arrghh!
